Introducing Jodi Hosterman

The Inspirations are very pleased to welcome Jodi Hosterman as our new tenor. Jodi joined the Inspirations in April, 2010. Born and raised in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, he becomes the newest addition from north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Jodi is 41 years old (actually eleven days older than Melton!) and currently lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with his wife, Deborah and daughter, Vivian. The Hosterman family anticipates a move to North Carolina in the near future.

Though Jodi had sung tenor in church and high school choirs, he actually sang lead in his first quartet while studying Music Education at Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, Ohio. It was during his time at Mount Vernon (1986 – 1990) that he learned he could sing the high tenor part in a quartet. He has an amazingly high range, but his voice is also one of the smoothest you will ever hear; and the Inspirations are singing higher than ever before!

Jodi began his professional career in Southern Gospel Music in 1998 with Kevin Spencer & Friends. Since then he has sung with Perfect Heart, the Kingdom Heirs, and for the last four years with the Skyline Boys.

Jodi states,  “I’m deeply honored to be a part of a group such as the Inspirations, with such a long heritage in Southern Gospel Music,” he says. “I’m very excited about being able to contribute to their legacy. I’m also looking forward to meeting Inspirations friends and fans in the near future. I want to get to know them and have them get to know me.” Those who meet Jodi will love his personality. He is very much a “people person,” with a quick-witted sense of humor and humble spirit.

When he’s on the road not singing, Jodi enjoys reading, golfing, and playing video games. He enjoys sports of all kinds, and is an avid Notre Dame Football fan. Some of his other interests include Civil War history and politics.

Jodi’s favorite Southern Gospel groups are the Cathedrals, Kingdom Heirs, and Hoppers. Arthur Rice of the Kingdom Heirs is his favorite singer. Jodi and Arthur sang together for over two years and continue to have a great friendship today. His favorite female singer is Kim Hopper. He also lists his two favorite tenors as Danny Funderburke, formerly of the Cathedrals, and Jerry Martin, currently of the Dove Brothers.

We believe that Jodi  will make this lineup of Inspirations one of the most versatile ever;  and we already know that he will be a wonderful addition as we begin a new and exciting chapter in the Inspirations history.
